ACC Injury Cover – What Visitors Need to Know
ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation) is New Zealand’s no-fault accident insurance scheme. In many cases, accidental injuries that happen in New Zealand may be eligible for ACC cover, including for overseas visitors.
If you are injured while in New Zealand, our clinicians can assess your injury and lodge an ACC claim where appropriate. ACC determines eligibility and the level of cover. Fees may still apply for consultations or services not fully covered by ACC.
ACC does not cover illness or injuries that occurred overseas.
Travel insurance is still required
ACC does not replace travel insurance (e.g. repatriation, accommodation, income).
Fees apply for non-enrolled patients and for services not fully covered by ACC.
When to call 111 or go to the Emergency Department
Call 111 or go to ED for severe symptoms such as chest pain, severe breathing difficulty, signs of stroke, significant bleeding, major trauma, or rapidly worsening symptoms.
Fees
Fees apply for non-enrolled patients and for services not fully covered by ACC.
